Story | Project Dandelion was founded by Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and current chair of The Elders and Connected Women Leaders, a collective of 100+ women leaders from around the world. Project Dandelion debuted a powerful new film at "Unite for Climate Solutions: A Women-Led Summit," a virtual rally that was held ahead of the Nov. 30 opening of this year’s United Nations Climate Change conference, aka COP28. The initiative demands leaders prioritize women and follow through on the commitments they make at COP28 with two simple steps: Unite: I am a Dandelion - Share the Project Dandelion film. Mobilize: Take action with a unique one-click public pressure tool at projectdandelion.com starting Dec. 12 when COP 28 ends. The Unite for Climate Solutions summit featured special guests like Pat Mitchell, Co-founder of TED Women and Maria Fernanda Espinosa, Executive Director of the Global Women Leaders Voices and former President of the UN General Assembly, as well as a powerful discussion between Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland, former UN High Commissioner of Human Rights and current Chair of the Elders, and His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, COP28 President-Designate, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change. The Project Dandelion film is a poignant and inspiring call to action, featuring a diverse group of women leaders with a range of experiences in the fight against climate injustice. With a simple, black background and animated dandelions occasionally circling each speaker, the women look directly at the camera to declare “I am a dandelion.” They emphasize choosing hope, their belief in being part of the solution and taking action in an effort to seed more dandelions. |
