Philosophy | While it couldn't be more different from last year's ad, which featured half naked men fighting, this one, directed by Nexus duo Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes, is equally gripping. Called "The Outsider," it's the story of a baby unicorn who, like the Ugly Duckling, doesn't fit in -- in a world of pastel ponies, he's dark and has a twisted horn and underdeveloped wings. After an epic chase across a mythological landscape in which he attempts to outrun the other unicorns, he transforms into a race horse, and you can probably guess the rest. John Allison and Chris Bovill, Heads of 4Creative said in a statement: "People love the Grand National because even the outsider has a chance. We wanted to dramatise this whilst at the same time blowing the whistle on all the prejudiced unicorns out there." This year's Crabbie's Grand National Festival is broadcast live on Channel 4 from April 9 to 11. |
