| Story | Samsung was launching their revolutionary new Galaxy Z Foldables with cross-industry applause. However, they still faced low awareness that folding phones even existed among their core consumers (especially in iOS-loving America) and suffered low category relevance (tech reviewer Marques Brownlee asked, ‘cool phone, but what for?’ as 60% of Samsung’s base didn’t think foldables would improve their lives). Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband holds the fastest 5G Ultra Wideband in the world and in the biggest cities, but they faced the same issue of ‘so what?’. People didn’t know how these amazing futuristic technologies could benefit their everyday lives. So, instead of tackling them apart, Samsung and Verizon came together in their first-ever co-branded campaign to show them what the most immersive phones on the fastest network in the world could solve for them today. Our time-relevant insight: As the U.S. opens up this summer, we are increasingly leaving the comforts of our homes – our couches and onesies, but also our trusty WiFi, giant TV screens, gaming consoles and laptops – to head back out into the world. With the pandemic, we thought FOMO was gone (nothing was happening outside anyway). But now with FOMO back in full force, we want it all: to enjoy everything outside, but with the standards of inside.
